Northern Red Bellied Turtle

Northern Red Bellys hatch out with brilliant colors. They make very good starter and community tank turtles. They are very active, and love to bask. Juveniles are omnivorous, they love pellets, romaine lettuce,some fish, water plants and dark leafy greens, as adults are mostly herbivores. Juveniles have brilliant green shells and bright orange & red and yellow bellies. As they age their carpaces (top shells) become a darker green while their bellies stay brightly colored with lots of color variation. Once 4 – 5 inches they make nice additions to outdoor ponds in both mild and colder states. A fine turtle for keepers of any level.
